Lancashire Renewables
REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE
Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste.

Waste treatment
Leyland
Residual waste that enters our Leyland facility is currently loaded into a shredder, mechanically treated to recover metals and recover a combustible product known as refuse derived fuel (RDF). RDF is then sent to other waste processors for further treatment before being used in the energy from waste sector.

Waste treatment
Thornton
Residual waste is treated through our Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) process. This is where incompatible and hazardous materials are removed, recyclates and combustible materials are recovered, and the organics fraction is passed through a biological drying process to reduce its mass prior to final treatment.

Manned 365 days a year
Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (“black bin bag”) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.
